Truth rating: 10

Amy Purdy and Mark Ballas performed an amazing salsa routine during the first-ever “Switch-Up” on Monday’s “Dancing with the Stars.”

The paralympian, who uses prosthetic legs, was nervous to dance with someone other than normal pro Derek Hough, but the pair won raves from all the judges.

Guest judge Julianne Hough told Purdy, “There’s more to you than just coming on this show to be an inspiration. You are here to be a competitor… You’re incredible. You do such an amazing job.” Bruno Tonioli said to the athlete, “You continue to astonish me.” “The amount of footwork that Mark made you do tonight is incredible. You never placed wrong,” he went on. “I was looking for something wrong, I couldn’t see it.”

Carrie Ann Inaba praised the duo for pulling off a more vulnerable routine, where Purdy was more exposed and independent than in past weeks. “I thought what I saw was fantastic. It was excellent,” she said. And Len Goodman told her, “I am full of admiration.”

Two-time champ Ballas even noted afterward that this was “one of my favorite weeks on the show I’ve ever done.” The couple earned a 34, but Hough said she “might’ve messed up” and should’ve given a higher score than her 8.

The points will be added to Purdy and Derek score’s from last week, and the votes from then and tonight will be combined to determined next week’s results.
