America’s Pulse: Jon & Kate Plus Hate

For the most part, Gossip Cop made it through the summer without discussing America’s tabloid royalty, Jon and Kate Gosselin. The experience often felt like being trapped in a restaurant while the awful bickering couple at the next table shouted . . . for months. As their eight children and most of the country watched, the Gosselins hurled insults and accusations in an unending series of TV appearances and magazine covers that promoted their TLC program and, eventually, their post-marriage and post-TLC agendas.

And they just . . . won’t . . . go . . . away.

This morning Jon went on Good Morning America to tell everyone that he “despises” Kate and to say that she stole his wedding band. So, as this charming story reaches its 1,928th month, we thought we’d ask Gossip Cop’s readers:  Do you care? Do you ‘side’ with Kate? With Jon? Or are you indifferent to both?

    They don’t deserve the time, or energy some people put into writing about them. Its the children that matter.

    I HATE REALITY STARS! I’m so sick of hearing about them! Jon, Kate, the Kardashians, Speidi etc. shouldn’t even be famous. They’re not talented and are getting the spotlight away from real hollywood stars who have talent. Please Gossip Cop ignore the reality stars.

    KatrinasmediaAngel, you are so right — it is the children who matter, and it seems like in the midst of all this mudslinging, they have been completely ignored. Sadly there will be a day when the kids are old enough, and they will read all the vile comments their daddy said about their mommy, and all the things their mom said about their dad, and it will cause even more confusion and hurt.

    And kath2833, you’ve made a valid point, too. As we noted, we ignored them all summer, but when a major media company like ABC decided to give Jon so much airtime we had to make mention of it. That said, we will once again focus our attention on REAL stars, not reality stars.

    I’ve never one time watched their show and I skip over articles in magazines about them. But it’s hard with them all over the tv and everywhere not to hear some of what they are saying If I had to choose sides, at this point, I would choose Kates side. I know alot say she’s a bitch but from what I’ve seen of Jon she would need to probably be on him in order to get him to do anything But as has been pointed out, it’s the children I feel so bad for. I also blame TLC for continuing to air the program. I just saw a clip on tv of Jon saying he depises Kate and all I could think of was how nice for your children to hear their father saying this. Because if they haven’t yet, one day they will hear all about it Thank you gossipcop for staying away from this trainwreck of a story

    Sometime I see the show! The only thing is the childrends. When they grow up they will see what went wrong!I I do’nt choose sides. They are both to blime.
