“American Idol” Makes Last-Minute Sex Change

FOX has announced a last-minute switch in its “American Idol” plans this week.

The show’s male semifinalists will now perform tonight, with the female semifinalists taking the stage on Wednesday. The change was made because “medical issues” prevent Crystal Bowersox from performing live this evening.

On Thursday’s program, two male and two female contestants will be eliminated. Eighth season finalist Danny Gokey will perform.

It is expected that the usual format of women on Tuesday and men on Wednesday will resume next week.
