Amber Heard Faces 10 Years In Prison In Australia For Illegally Importing Her And Johnny Depp’s Dogs
Amber Heard has been charged in Australia with two counts of illegally importing her and Johnny Depp’s dogs, Boo and Pistol, and one count of producing a false document, the Commonwealth Department of Public Prosecutions announced Thursday. The model and actress could face up to 10 years in prison and be fined $75,000. Heard is slated to appear before a judge on September 7.
As Gossip Cop reported, Barnaby Joyce, Australia’s Minister of Agriculture initially threatened in May to put down Boo and Pistol because Depp failed to declare the two Yorkshire terriers when he entered Australian to film the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie. At the time, as Gossip Cop noted, Joyce said Depp need to “remove the dogs” from Australia or the Department of Agriculture was “going to have to euthanize them.”
“He’s decided to bring into our nation two dogs without getting the proper certification and the proper permits required,” said Joyce. Depp was then given 50 hours to choose between the dogs’ death or deportation. Naturally, he flew the pooches out of the country.
It seems Heard has now been charged because she, and not Depp, is the owner of the dogs. Gossip Cop has reached to reps for Depp and Heard for comment.
