Amber Heard maintains her divorce battle with Johnny Depp is not about money, despite allegedly refusing to agree to a settlement.
As Gossip Cop has reported, Heard filed for divorce last month after just over a year of marriage. A few days later, she accused Depp of verbal and physical abuse, and obtained a temporary restraining order against him. A hearing is scheduled for next week to determine whether the stay-away order will become permanent.
Depp’s camp alleged in court earlier Friday that Heard is avoiding sitting for a deposition prior to the hearing, while her attorney countered that she was not given sufficient notice. It was further reported that financial negotiations fell apart, and it was implied that Heard refused to a proposed agreement because she was holding out for more money. But now the actress’ camp is insisting that’s not the case.
Rather, sources close to Heard claim to TMZ that she won’t entertain the deal, which calls for her to receive $50,000 a month for eight months, because Depp allegedly wanted his own restraining order against her to be part of the settlement. But because she claims she was the one repeatedly assaulted, Heard sees no reason for Depp to have his own protection. That, she reportedly feels, would just mitigate her status as a domestic violence victim.
And unless a settlement is reached over the next week, these issues will be addressed before a judge. While Heard intends to go to the hearing, it is unclear if Depp will be in attendance. Gossip Cop will continue to have updates.
