Amanda Bynes Released From Psychiatric Facility Early, Wanders Sunset Strip
Amanda Bynes was released from a psychiatric facility on Thursday after being held for two weeks of observation and treatment. She then wandered the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, looking for lodging.
According to TMZ, Bynes asked to be released at a hearing before facility officials. While doctors believe she has serious mental illness, the former actress and current fashion student has been taking medication and is more coherent than when she entered. The facility determined it could no longer involuntarily hold Bynes, so a 30-day hold that was granted last week was terminated prematurely.
Bynes then walked down Sunset Boulevard, eventually stopping into a diner for dinner. She subsequently was rejected by several hotels, according to the outlet.
She was initially hospitalized on a 5150 psychiatric hold earlier this month following the reemergence of the erratic behavior that plagued much of her last two years. At one point, it was reported that Bynes could remain hospitalized against her will for up to a year. Her parents have obtained a new legal conservatorship over Bynes, concerned about not just her bizarre public actions, but also her troubling behavior with money. Gossip Cop will have updates. We hope Bynes truly doesn’t require hospitalization at the moment, but fear this pattern will continue to repeat itself.
