Amanda Bynes’ Parents To Surrender Conservatorship To Mental Health Professional
Amanda Bynes’ parents plan to hand the conservatorship over their troubled daughter to another party. TMZ reports that Rick and Lynn Bynes will surrender their legal authority over the former actress’ life, passing it over to a mental health professional with more experience handling individuals who have severe mental illnesses.
Rick and Lynn have reportedly determined that they cannot have a functional relationship with their daughter until she’s placed under a new, more effective conservator. The formal legal request will be made in the coming days. Bynes’ parents are also expected to transfer control of Amanda’s finances to a money manager. They are said to be moving from California to Texas to be closer to their older daughter Jillian.
Earlier this week, Bynes acknowledged for the first time that she’s bipolar and manic depressive. The admission came a few days after she was released early from a psychiatric facility. Following her release from a facility last Thursday, Bynes wandered the streets of Los Angeles and made serious allegations against her parents, including a charge that Rick is a sexual abuser.
The star was initially hospitalized on a 5150 psychiatric hold in October following the reemergence of the erratic behavior that has plagued much of her last two years. Gossip Cop will have updates.
