Amanda Bynes Conservatorship Upheld; Troubled Star Fails To Show In Court
Amanda Bynes’ attempt to end her parents’ legal conservatorship over her has failed. On Friday, a judge in Los Angeles ruled that Lynn and Rick Bynes still possess legal control over their troubled daughter’s decisions and money, despite her early release from a psychiatric facility and subsequent Twitter rant vowing to end the conservatorship.
The former actress did not attend the hearing at Ventura Court. Instead, an attorney claiming to be her legal representative showed up, but was ruled to be invalid since Bynes is not allowed to sign a binding contract while still under the conservatorship. Despite her well-documented displeasure with the arrangement, Bynes will still have to adhere to it.
Following her release from the facility on Thursday, Bynes was seen wandering Sunset Boulevard and unsuccessfully attempting to find a hotel room. She reportedly threw money all over one hotel lobby in frustration. She’s also been seen eating alone at a diner twice in the past 24 hours. On Friday, she laid into her parents on Twitter, reviving her once-retracted allegations that Rick Bynes is a “sexual predator.”
Gossip Cop sincerely hopes this latest chapter of Bynes’ erratic conduct ends with her getting sustained help. It is troubling that she was allowed to exit mental health care when she is still exhibiting the type of behavior that landed her in the facility earlier this month. We will have updates.
