Amanda Bynes Arrested, Taken to Hospital After Throwing Bong From Window
Amanda Bynes was arrested and hospitalized in New York City on Thursday night, Gossip Cop confirms. Officers were called to the actress’ apartment building at approximately 7:40 p.m. after the doorman called police and claimed she was smoking marijuana in the lobby, police sources tell us.
When cops arrived, there was a “strong odor of marijuana emanating” from her apartment, and a bong “in plain view” of the officers, which Bynes allegedly threw out her window. She was arrested for reckless endangerment, pot possession, and tampering with evidence, we’re told. She was also taken to a hospital — reportedly for a psychiatric evaluation — before being brought to central booking, where she’ll remain until she can go before a judge in the morning.
Just one day ago, the former child star blasted In Touch for publishing allegedly fake “drug” pictures. The photos purported to show Bynes smoking marijuana, but she claimed the publication “morphed photos of my face onto someone’s body to ruin my life,” an allegation the mag’s spokesperson denied. Bynes has had a number of run-ins with the law over the last year, most recently pleading no contest earlier this month to driving on a suspended license. She was sentenced to three years probation.
In December, two charges of hit-and-run were dismissed after Bynes settled civil suits with the victims. She still, however, has an ongoing DUI case, stemming from an April 2012 arrest. Gossip Cop will have updates.
