Amanda Brown slayed Adele’s “Someone Like You” on “The Voice” on Monday.

The aspiring singer took the moving, slow-paced ballad and turned it into a powerful, uptempo, rock version that wowed all four coaches.

“You did an Adele song and made it an Amanda Brown song,” Blake Shelton told her, adding, “You are a rocker and I can’t get enough of that from you.”

Christina Aguilera commended Brown for “another really dynamic, powerful vocal,” while Cee Lo Green underscored how risky it was to cover such a revered song.

“I’m very happy to see that in such a critical point in this competition that someone is still brave enough to take those risks. I really appreciate that,” he said.

And Brown’s mentor, Adam Levine, pointed out that he’s usually against Adele covers, but admitted, “Tonight you knocked it out of the park.”

He added, “I’ve never seen anyone do it the way you do it.”

And in other news, Dez still can’t sing, and yet continues to stay in the competition when so many others can sing circles around him. Bad teenage girls (and boys, you know who you are). BAD!!!

I LOVE her! I laugh at Ceeloo every time I remember how he put her against that guy cause he didn’t think she was good. I’m so happy that Adam stole her away.

She already looks like a bonafide rock star on stage. She’s awesome.

Amanda Brown did what every great singer should do. She owned that song. She made it hers. I like Adele’s versiun. I mean both are great and I am not comparing. I am just saying if you are a professional singer or the potential to be one, you should sing any song like its yours.

Amanda is just amazing! It doesn’t matter what song she’s singing, she always nails it. I agree with Adam that Adele songs aren’t the ones you should cover but she absolutely made the song her own and presented her skills just like she does ever week. You just never know with The Voice so I’ve always got my DISH Hopper recording the new episodes each week and thanks to PrimeTime Anytime it does it automatically on the big four networks. Even
though her background is in Gospel, she is so versatile and knows exactly how much is too much each time she has a new song selection. My DISH co-worker doesn’t think she will win the competition but I think it’s too early to tell. There are lots of other talented individuals in this competition.

I guess I love the way Adele does it so well anybody else that tries to copy it is like sacrilege LOL

I guess I’m in the minority. Amanda’s been hit or miss for me. She’s talented but her vocal quality doesn’t appeal to me, personally. I loved her renditions of “Stars” and “Valerie” but did not find this performance enjoyable in the least. It’s great that she added her own spin to a song that is covered ad nauseam, but through her interpretation, she destroyed a certain essence in the lyrics and even the chord structure–a tenderness–that IS integral to the song. She replaced it with an angry, bad-ass, rough quality that just didn’t fit. It was borderline Alanis Morissette from her “Jagged Little Pill” days. She took it too far and killed everything that’s beautiful about the song.

I get her appeal but don’t think she’s as great as she’s being made out to be. Oh well, to each his or her own.
