ABC Cancels “All My Children” and “One Life to Live”

Truth rating: 10

(ABC)

ABC has canceled “All My Children” and “One Life to Live.”

The network axed both long-running soap operas today in favor of two new shows – food program “The Chew” and lifestyle series “The Revolution.”

“They are iconic pieces of television that have made an indelible mark on our culture’s history,” ABC executive Brian Frons said of the two soaps.

“All My Children” will end in September. “One Life to Live” will conclude its run in January.

“The Chew” is a live show with reported hosts Mario Batali, Clinton Kelly, Carla Hall and Michael Symon.

“The Revolution,” about health and lifestyle transformations, features Tim Gunn, Harley Pasternak and Kimberley Locke.

“While we are excited about our new shows and the shift in our business, I can’t help but recognize how bittersweet the change is,” reflected Frons.

“One Life to Live” has been on the network since 1968. ”All My Children” debuted in 1970.
