Ali Caldwell ‘Did I Ever Love You’ “The Voice” Video: Watch Top 12 Performance!
Ali Caldwell movingly covered Leonard Cohen on Monday’s “The Voice,” just days after the singer’s death. Check out the video below.
As Gossip Cop reported, it was announced last Thursday that Cohen had died at age 82. Over the course of his long career, he songwriter had a profound impact on the music industry with a number of poignant songs and poems. While “Hallelujah” may be the best known, Caldwell performed a different track of his on “The Voice.”
The aspiring star was assigned “Did I Ever Love You,” a heartbreaking tale of trying to come to terms with a relationship gone wrong. During rehearsals with coach Miley Cyrus and key adviser Garth Brooks, the pop star explained that she selected Cohen’s song after his passing so viewers could hear the story. Caldwell, however, admitted to being “worried,” and called it “the biggest challenge so far.”
The live performance, though, received a standing ovation from all four coaches. “All four,” Cyrus proudly yelled out to her artist. Carson Daly named Caldwell a new “frontrunner” and compared it to a Grammys performance, and he’s not even a judge.
Alicia Keys also said, “That was a real moment.” And Cyrus went on to tell Caldwell, “I know this song was a little bit scary for us going into it. It was a cosmic coincidence. I’m just happy that Leonard was able to hear this.” Watch below.
