Ali Caldwell ‘9 To 5’ “The Voice” Video: Watch Top 11 Performance!
Ali Caldwell performed Dolly Parton’s “9 To 5” on “The Voice” on Monday. Watch below!
As Gossip Cop has reported, Caldwell is a member of Team Miley, and coach Miley Cyrus has continually pushed her to take on what may seem to be surprising song choices. That paid off in a big way last week, when Caldwell’s rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Did I Ever Love You” led to a standing ovation from the entire panel. Now this week, for the Top 11, Cyrus directed her artist to one of her own personal favorite artists, Parton.
The country icon is Cyrus’ godmother, and even filmed a video to push contestants toward Cyrus during the Blind Auditions. Then, last week, she and Caldwell, along with the rest of Team Miley, joined forces to perform Parton’s “There’ll Always Be Music.” Here, though, Caldwell had to take the stage solo for her take on “9 To 5.”
“I would never give someone I didn’t trust a fairy godmother song,” Cyrus said in rehearsals. Caldwell thought it would be a “challenge,” but appreciated the opportunity to do an “upbeat” song for a change. And Cyrus “wanted to see her go into that country lane.”
After Caldwell enthuastically took the stage to open the two-hour live broadcast, Adam Levine said he was “so happy” to see her show she could do country music. And Blake Shelton, a country superstar himself, said, “I hope Dolly’s watching this… I am so impressed, and that was so much fun.”
Cyrus also said, “I think the rest of your life is going to be opening shows and closing shows and nothing in between. Because that’s what you are — you’re such a star… I’m so excited for you to win this show!” Check out the video below!
