Dancing With The Stars Winner Is…
There is a new “Dancing with the Stars” winner! The ABC dance competition crowned its season 19 champion on Tuesday’s live finale, a continuation of Monday’s episode. Watch the results video below!
As Gossip Cop reported, part one of the finale featured the final four couples — Bethany Mota & Derek Hough, Alfonso Ribeiro & Witney Carson, Sadie Robertson & Mark Ballas, and Janel Parrish & Val Chmerkovskiy — each performing two routines, a reprise dance from earlier in the season and a brand-new freestyle. All the couples received a perfect score of forty for the second round, but one pair still had to be eliminated at the end of the night, based on last week’s points and viewers’ votes. Unfortunately, the ax fell on Mota and Hough.
Picking up from that point on Tuesday, Riberio was at the top of the leaderboard with 80 points out of a possible 80, followed by Robertson with 78, and Parrish with 77. For the third and final round of the competition, each duo had to perform a fusion dance after just 24 hours of prep. The scores of that would be added to the points from Monday. After some pretty impressive routines, Riberio earned a perfect 40 for a perfect total of 120, Robertson received another 40 to bring her to 118, and Parrish took 40, too, for 117 in all.
Those totals were ultimately combined with last night’s viewers’ votes to determine the final results. So how did it all turn out in the end?! Parrish & Chmerkovskiy came in third, leaving Ribeiro & Carson and Robertson & Ballas vying for the Mirror Ball Trophy.
And Alfonso Ribeiro & Witney Carson won! The couple was showered with confetti as all the former contestants rushed out to celebrate. Check out the video below!
Carson’s victory is unbelievably remarkable considering this was only her second season on the show. She made her debut as a pro earlier this year with Cody Simpson on season 18, placing ninth. It was also a momentous win for Ribeiro, who had noted multiple times that he’s wanted to be on the show every single season. After now being named the winner, he emotionally said, “I’ve wanted it forever, oh my god. I don’t even know what to say… These are happy tears!” And Ribeiro and Carson’s amazing dancing will continue, as the pair announced they’ve joined the upcoming “Dancing with the Stars” tour.
This is the second time Ballas has finished in the runner-up position, after placing second with Katherine Jenkins in season 14. And for Chmerkovskiy, it’s the second he’s finished in third, following season 15’s special all-star edition, in which he was paired with season 1 winner Kelly Monaco.
“Dancing with the Stars” will continue in the spring with its 20th season marking its 10-year anniversary, and Gossip Cop, of course, will have full coverage. Are you happy with the season 19 winner and results?!
