WATCH: Alfonso Ribeiro Gets TWO Perfect Scores On Dancing with the Stars Finale With Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air Tribute
Alfonso Ribeiro received not one, but TWO perfect scores on Monday’s part one of the “Dancing with the Stars” season 19 finale. He and partner Witney Carson had to perform two routines, and soared (and scored) higher on them than any of their competitors. Check out the videos below!
First, the pair re-created their jive, which they originally performed on the season premiere back in September, earning 36 points. Their reprise now, chosen by Carrie Ann Inaba, earned the duo a perfect score. Inaba gushed afterward, “You set the bar from day one with that dance, and tonight you slapped us all in the face with it.” Head judge Len Goodman added, “You dance like Frank Sinatra sings… You’ve just taken an enormous step into that finale.”
That step became a gigantic leap in the second round, when Ribeiro and Carson started off with swing-inspired routine for freestyle that then went into “Jump On It” and the classic dance Ribeiro performed years ago on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” He then did o a tap solo, playing tribute to his childhood career, and the whole thing just left the judges in absolute awe.
“Superstar!” declared Inaba. “To me, that was the ultimate in freestyle… You threw it old school, new school, everything that sums up ‘Dancing with the Stars.'” Goodman humorously called the dance “an all-you-can eat buffet” of dance, and further said the routine was the most deserving of earning a spot in the second part of the finale. Bruno Tonioli then declared, “And that’s how you tap your way to the top! I’m telling you, this was really in your face, an undeniable showstopper in the great American way.”
While four couples remained at the start of Monday’s episode, only three were left by the end. Ribeiro and Carson, who are at the top of the leaderboard now with a perfect 80 out of 80 possible points, will continue on to the second part of the finale on Tuesday against Janel Parrish and Val Chmerkovskiy (77 points) and Sadie Robertson and Derek Hough (78 points). The scores from tonight and the fusion dance performed tomorrow will be combined with America’s votes from tonight to ultimately determine this season’s winner. As Gossip Cop reported earlier Monday, Ribeiro’s “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” co-star Will Smith took to Facebook to encourage fans to vote for him, something that was heavily played up on the show. Check out the videos below, and tell us if Ribeiro has your vote! NOTE: Video is no longer available.
