Alexandra Shipp To Play Aaliyah in Lifetime Movie After Zendaya Dropped Out
Alexandra Shipp is set play Aaliyah in the Lifetime movie that chronicles the singer’s life and tragic death.
Wendy Williams, who has joined the biopic as an executive producer, tweeted the news on Friday.
“I’m excited to exec produce the Aaliyah @lifetimetv movie w/ @DebraMChase. Prod starts later this month and @AlexShipppp will play Aaliyah,” she wrote.
Aaliyah: Princess of R&B, will be based on the biography, Aaliyah: More Than a Woman.
The singer was 22 when she was killed in a plane crash in 2001.
Shipp is best known for her role on the Nickelodeon show “House of Anubis.”
The TV movie is slated to premiere in the fall.
