Alec Baldwin NOT Hosting “Freedom Concert,” Despite Fake Flyer
Alec Baldwin and other stars are NOT signed up for a “Freedom Concert” taking place on Inauguration Day, despite a fake flyer duping people on social media. Gossip Cop can set the record straight.
The flyer in question was created by a designer for the company Frisk Creative, and shared on Facebook as an idea for counter-programming on January 20, the day Donald Trump is inaugurated as president (see post below). The concept art looks very much like an official announcement, with it being said Alec Baldwin will host the star-studded event. A slew of music stars are named as participating performers, including Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney and John Mayer.
But like a game of telephone, as the flyer for the faux event circulated on Facebook and Twitter, the message behind it was lost. Instead of being accurately shared as a creative proposal, the flyer has now been passed around as if it is an official announcement for a legitimate event (see tweet below). But it is not.
Neither Baldwin nor any other star named is actually signed up for such a concert. In fact, as Gossip Cop reported, earlier Friday, Baldwin offered to perform at Trump’s inauguration. While the actor, of course, was joking, he obviously would be promoting the “Freedom Concert” if such plans actually existed. For now, it remains a pipe dream that, unfortunately, has led to fake news. Should an actual “Freedom Concert” be organized, Gossip Cop will update.
