Fans are reacting to Alan Rickman’s death from cancer on Thursday at the age of 69. As Gossip Cop reported earlier, Rickman, perhaps best known as Professor Snape in the Harry Potter franchise, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family and friends. Now fans are sharing their mournful reactions on Twitter.

A user named @bobafettpixie expressed that she “can’t believe he’s now gone! My favorite actor, my favorite everything! RIP Alan Rickman, absolutely heart broken.” A fan named @AnnaDoherty saluted Rickman by writing, “Thank you for making Snape everything he was supposed to be on screen,” while @FlyAwayCharms advised, “Let us all raise our wands for Alan Rickman.
