Al Pacino Going Blind?
Al Pacino is NOT “going blind,” despite a purely speculative and inaccurate tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this claim. We’re told it’s “false.”
The National Enquirer notes the actor recently underwent cataract surgery and was spotted in Beverly Hills wearing a bandage over one eye. The tabloid then explains how “untreated” cataracts “can lead to total blindness,” but of course, Pacino clearly had his condition treated. The magazine next quotes a doctor, who’s never treated the actor, as saying that complications from the eye surgery “could result” in one permanently losing their vision.
The magazine’s source, who seemingly doesn’t know Pacino and has presumably never met him, further says the actor will be “flirting with blindness,” if he doesn’t follow doctor’s orders following the procedure. But there’s no reason to believe Pacino wouldn’t take good care of himself during his recovery. Additionally, the advocacy group Prevent Blindness explains on its official website that “more than two million cataract surgeries are performed” in the U.S. every year, and there are zero complications in “over 95% of cases.”
It should also be noted, a bandage-free Pacino attended a special screening of Heat in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, and he’s also currently in rehearsals for the upcoming play, When God Looked Away, which will debut on Broadway next year. Regardless of the Enquirer’s claims being purely speculative and the overwhelming proof that Pacino’s eyesight is fine, Gossip Cop still checked in with a source close to the actor for confirmation. Naturally, we’re exclusively assured Pacino isn’t going blind, and the tabloid’s conjecture otherwise is completely “false.”
