NFL Star Adrian Peterson Arrested

NFL star Adrian Peterson was arrested early Saturday in Houston.

The Minnesota Vikings running back was charged with resisting arrest.

He was released on $1,000 bond at approximately 10:40 a.m. after spending several hours behind bars.

The circumstances of his arrest remain unclear, although there are unconfirmed reports that Peterson argued with a police officer at an area nightclub.

“We are aware of the situation,” said the Vikings in a statement. “We will withhold further comment until more information is known.”

Peterson is entering his sixth season with the Vikings, who picked him in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft following his brilliant tenure at the University of Oklahoma.

He signed a $96 million contract in 2011.
