Adele “When We Were Young” Brits Video: Watch Brit Awards Closing Performance
Adele performed “When We Were Young” to close the 2016 Brit Awards on Wednesday. Watch below!
“When We Were Young” is the second single off Adele’s latest album 25. She first debuted the track in mid-November with a low-key music video in which she casually belted the ballad at The Church Studios in London. She’s since performed it on “SNL,” during TV specials here and in the UK, and most recently at her pre-Grammys concert earlier this month.
The performance now comes a week and a half after Adele sang “All I Ask” at the Grammys with less than stellar results. The powerhouse vocalist was thrown off after a mic fell on her piano’s strings, messing up the sound. She later admitted to spending the next day in tears over the mishap.
Thankfully, things went much better on the Brits stage. Adele won Best British Female Solo Artist, the first award of the night, and gave an acceptance speech that expressed support for Kesha, as Gossip Cop reported earlier. Last time Adele won the honor, in 2012, she flipped the bird after the show tried to cut off her speech, as Gossip Cop reported at the time.
Tonight, she also took home Best British Single of the Year for “Hello,” as well as the Global Success Award. It was during that speech that Adele broke down, crying about how wonderful it is to be accepted again after her years-long break. At the end of the ceremony, Adele then won the night’s biggest honor, British Album of the Year.
She amusingly began her speech by saying, “I’m really sorry for swearing earlier and the ugly cry first.” At the end she hilariously added, “I didn’t get cut off and I didn’t swear!” Afterward, Adele officially closed the awards with her performance. Check out the video below!
