Adele Tells Vogue: “I’m Done With Being a Bitter Witch”

Though a devastating split led Adele to win six awards at Sunday’s Grammys, the vocal powerhouse has vowed to “never” write “a breakup record again.”

“I’m done with being a bitter witch,” she says in the March issue of Vogue.

While the singer has never named the mystery man who broke her heart and was subsequently the subject of the chart-topping hits featured on her album 21, Adele admits he “deserves a little credit.”

“For ages I was like, As if he deserves any f–king kudos for inspiring my record,” she recalls. “But now, after some time, it only seems right that the person who so far has had the biggest impact on me — has now changed my life for f–king ever with this album — deserves a little credit.”

Adele adds, “I can do things that I never dreamed I’d be able to do. If I hadn’t met him, I think I’d still be that little girl I was when I was eighteen. And the best thing is, I now know what I want for myself and from someone else. I didn’t know what I wanted before.”

Part of what the “Someone Like You” songstress now wants is a long-lasting relationship with new beau Simon Konecki.

Calling Konecki “wonderful,” Adele says, “He’s proud of me, but he don’t care about what I do or what other people think. He looks after me. I don’t think I would have gotten through the recovery for my surgery if it hadn’t been for him.”

Adele also reveals she had a few celebrity pals help her through her recent medical ordeal, including John Mayer, who also had surgery on his vocal chords, as well as Steven Tyler and Elton John.

With the trauma mostly behind her, Adele is looking to the (relatively far off) future when she can lead a quieter life.

“If I am constantly working, my relationships fail. So at least now I can have enough time to write a happy record. And be in love and be happy,” she says.

“And then I don’t know what I’ll do,” she adds. “Get married. Have some kids. Plant a nice vegetable patch.”

    I know this sounds horrible but……… I kinda like her music when shes a miserable bitter witch, soooo hope she doesn’t get too happy and decided that she doesn’t need music as an outlet anymore!

    yay, i’m happy for her. So basically she’s saying that she has found a new love and is over it and has moved on. I love those songs, i’m still processing my bitterness and sadness, but good on her :)

    If she can give the kind of music she gave when she was miserable and bitter, I cannot imagine that any song she writes out of happiness could be anything less than spectacular. I am such a fan. I love her voice, I love the fact that she does not need the gimicks and/or the sensationalism that has got nothing to do with music and more to do with disguising the fact that there is limited talent by an artist (if no talent at all whatsoever); Adele is like a breath of fresh air in an otherwise boring and repetitious music industry of manufactured “pop stars.”

    When Alanis Morissette was bitter she wrote the chart-topping Jagged Little Pill album. When she was happy & healed she plummeted.. She then wrotethe creepy ‘UnInvited’ which took her back up. Let’s hope the same doesn’t apply to our beloved Adele

    I think I’m her oldest number 1 fan (70 yrs old)and she has written the soundtrack of my heart. I think she’s great. I know everyone changes, on this road (life) but, hopefully not her core.I hope this Simon is a good guy and that he is who she thinks he is. When is she coming to the US again? Any one know? what was her birthday present?

    how can u possibly say that??Besides having a loving relationship ,a gorgeous new precious baby boy ,she is the most talented ,down to earth ,amazing singers today!
    They ALL use the f word ,ive heard tjhem.(maybe with the exception of justin beiber and hes not realy lived yet!..Sorry ,but she looks FAR from an emotional “wreck” ,and what comes out of her mouth leaves the hairs on your neck standing up!!!!:)..Hope ALL your dreams come true Adele..but please come back and Blast that beautiful voice of yours for us now and again!:)…xx
