Adele Uses Brit Awards Acceptance Speech To “Publicly Support” Kesha
Adele won the first award of the night, British Female Solo Artist, which was presented to her by Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson. She gave a fairly typical acceptance speech, full of her usual self-deprecation and gratitude. But at the end, Adele added, “I’d like to take this moment to publicly support Kesha.”
The comment actually came around the same time Kesha posted a statement on Facebook expressing gratitude for all the support she’s received as she continues to battle producer Dr. Luke. As Gossip Cop has reported, the pop star has accused him of sexual assault, while he claims she made the allegations up to get out of their contract. Last week, a judge refused to let Kesha out of their record deal as their dueling lawsuits continue to play out.
A number of other top music stars have also voiced support for Kesha, including Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, and Ariana Grande. Taylor Swift also offered support by donating $250,000 to Kesha amid the very pricey legal battle. Non-musicians, ranging from Lena Dunham to Mariska Hargitay, have said they stand with Kesha, too.
Now consider Adele among them, as well. Check out the video below.
