Adele Grammys Speech: Beyonce Is “Artist Of My Life” (VIDEO)
Adele won Song and Record of the Year for “Hello,” and during the latter, she gave a shout-out to Beyonce, who was nominated in the same categories for “Formation.” Beyonce was also up for Album of the Year with Lemonade. And when Adele’s 25 won, she used some of her tearful acceptance speech to pay tribute to Beyonce.
“My artist of my life is Beyonce, and this album for me, the Lemonade album, was just so monumental. Beyonce, it was so monumental and so well thought-out and soul-baring, and we all got to see another side to you that you don’t always let us see and we appreciate that,” Adele said.
She went on, “And all us artists adore you. You are our light, and the way you make me and my friends feel, the way you make my black friends feel, is empowering, and you make them stand up for themselves. And I love you, and I always have, and I always will.”
As she spoke, the camera showed Beyonce crying as she watched from the front row. As Gossip Cop reported, the star didn’t go home empty-handed. She was also among the Grammy winners, even though she didn’t get any of the top prizes. Check out the video below.
