Adele Cancels U.S. Tour Due To Vocal Chord Hemorrhage

Adele has been forced to cancel her 10-city U.S. tour due to a hemorrhage into her vocal chord.

The superstar had been set to kick off her American shows on October 7 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

An upset, frustrated Adele posted a message to fans on her website earlier today.

“Singing is literally my life, its my hobbie, my love, my freedom and now my job. I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or i risk damaging my voice forever,” writes the singer.

She continues, “I have great confidence in believing you know how much this upsets me, how seriously i take it and how truly devastated and annoyed i am by this. wanting to do something so bad and not being able to is the most frustrating thing as im sure you know! my voice is weak and i need to build it back up. I’m gonna be starting up vocal rehab as soon as, and start building my over all stamina in my voice, body and mind. i will be back and im gonna smash the ball out the park once im touring again.”

Adele concludes, “I apologise from the bottom of my heart, sincerely i do. i know its not only disappointing because of the show, but its plane tickets, hotel bookings, birthdays, anniversaries and time wasted. but please have faith in me that this is the only thing i can do to make sure i can always sing and always make music for you to the best of my ability. truly yours and yours only forever, adele xx”

She’s struggled with similar issues in the past, shelving North American dates last June due to laryngitis.

    i am not a know it all , but i use common sense, ciggarettes cause major vocal damages not just lung cancer and what i said is the truth all those things ruin society , we humans screw ourselves over thats a reality

    Geez i hope she gets better. I need Adele in my life! Shes my favorite singer! I know smoking is bad and all but no one knows for sure if she was smoking so “fakerbuster” stop assuming. I read in an interview that she quit so you dont know if that was the cause. Anyway get better Adele!

    I didn’t know she smoked. If it’s true, it’s going to eventually ruin her amazing voice. See: Joss Stone, who now sounds awful.

    That is not necessarily true. I know people who have had vocal problems that do not smoke. I was told that sometimes it comes from not taking care of the vocals + it could be the way you misuse the vocals.

    She sounds genuinely sorry for not singing for fans. However how ever she feels , I am p;leased she realizes she needs to take care of herself. I hope her fans accepts her apology. I don’t know if Adele smokes or not. I think simply constant singing for long periods of time without a break can damage vocal chords. A cord hemorhage injury is not proof of smoking. I am hoping she does take care of herself she can feel better and oncde more sing for her fans.

    She already stopped smoking…It was a couple of months ago if memory serves me right.
