Adam Lambert Responds to Reports He May Join American Idol as Judge (UPDATE)

Adam Lambert is reportedly in the mix to become a judge on “American Idol,” the show on which he finished as runner-up in 2009.

E! News is reporting that Lambert’s name has been “floated” as producers look to retool the long-running program.

It’s a job the singer sounds interested in considering.

Lambert tells Gossip Cop in a statement, “Idol has an amazing history of introducing great musical talent, and I was very fortunate to have had the Idol stage play a big part in my career.”

He continues, “If Idol wants to talk to me about judging, I’d be more than flattered to have that conversation.”

There have been rumblings in recent weeks that Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler may depart “American Idol” after two years on the judging panel.

The duo, along with original judge Randy Jackson, have not yet formally signed on for Season 12.

That said, none of the three judges have ruled out a return, and it’s possible all of them will be back in the fold next year.

In 2010, Gossip Cop was the first outlet to report Lopez and Tyler were joining “Idol.”

Adam would help to revitalize the show.. He is honest, knows the business,is undeniably talented, charismatic and can express himself like no other. Idol would be lucky to have Adam as a judge. He would be an asset to all future contestants.

Adam Lambert would be the perfect judge for American Idol … he’s got it all … talent, smarts, he’s articulate, funny, compassionate, passionate, real and he’s got the best set of … singing chops I’ve ever heard in my life! GO FOR IT, ADAM!

Would like him much more than any of the three current judges!

I think he’d be great for the show. Also, his new music isn’t doing as well as his first album, so it’d be good for his career too.

Jlo story about not return back to Idol season 12 is bunch of BS, she knows her and Steve are going to be replace with “New Fresh Energy” as stated by News Corp back in May when stating that Idol has lost 171 Millions in commercial endorsements due to poor TV ratings, and that they needed to change the format of the show and the judges, Jlo knows that her career is in trouble without Idol, just like back in 2010, when she was fired by Sony Records, her clothing line Sweetface went bankrupt, and her movie career was in trouble, Idol save her and her career and she and her management know this is true, after Idol so is her career.

Adam would be a great judge for A.I..He would critique with honesty, intelligence and candor. He would bring a breath of fresh air and a new perspective back to that show. He understands what it’s like to stand before the judges and he could give compassionate advice to the kids. I would resume watching A. I. once again just to feast my eyes and ears on Adam!

no way. his music is a flop!!!

  • Jennifer

OH, hey! I would start watching again if they put Adam on as a judge!!! Yeah!

  • Guest

OMG… Adam is a joke!!!! NO WAY HUGE MISTAKE, he hasn’t had enough experience in the industry yet to be a JUDGE!! His music is not doing so well anyway. Maybe Kelly Clarkston or Carrie but ADAM.. no no no

The above comment hits the nail on the head. What can Adam bring to the table but his 2nd place idol finish? Perhaps he will have some good some tips from his view point about how to get through the competition; otherwise, his music has not been a huge success and how much successful industry experience does he have? A few years of mediocre work? Jennifer and Stephen worked the for the show due to the years of experience and industry accomplishments each have enjoyed. They are well known and acknowledged stars. You can trust their advice, it is contrived from success. Bring a big name to the table, Aretha Franklin, she has what it takes and is proven, Fergie, I would never miss an episode, Mariah Carey, great choice; however, Adam Lambert, I won’t even bother to set the dvr to record.

I think its just what the show needs. Someone whos been thru it can bring his experience like no other judge can. Adam charasmatic as he is will bring the ratings to a new high. I hope he considers it, he would be great!
