WATCH: Ace Young Proposes to Diana DeGarmo on American Idol Finale!

It was an “American Idol” first when former contestants Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young got engaged on Wednesday’s live finale!

Host Ryan Seacrest called the pair, who began dating in 2010, on stage, and mentioned the two moved in together.

Young then said he thought this was the ideal time for something else – a proposal!

“I want to make this last forever, and I will do anything in my power to have the most amazing life together, if you will have me,” Young said while down on one knee.

DeGarmo immediately accepted through her tears.

“I’m so speechless right now,” she said after Young put the engagement ring on her finger. “My makeup’s running!”

DeGarmo finished second on the third season of “Idol” in 2004, while Young placed seventh in 2006′s fifth season.

The two met while co-starring in the musical Hair on Broadway.

    The proposal was sweet, but I have to disagree with you about Jennifer. Holy lip-sync! She didn’t sing one bit of that live. Ridiculous on the AI stage where the contestants get judged by her…

    I respect your opinion completely, however, she is my favorite singer, and I have seen her live and she was not lip-syncing. She can actually sing, I would recommend listening to one of her ballads (those cannot be autotuned). There is one she did with Marc Anthony a few years back called “No Me Ames”. I think she has a gorgeous voice and is a strong and powerful woman. However, I think we should agree to disagree :)

    No, its impossible to autotune a ballad. The singer has to have a secure voice because the melody cannot be fixed or played with

    Any voice can be auto-tuned. Even at karaoke, they can do things to the mike to make your voice sound better. Certainly in an expensive recording studio, they can make things sound great.

    I don’t know where you’re getting your facts, but they’re inaccurate.

    Besides, we’ve all heard Jennifer sing live at the Oscars (a duet with Marc Anthony) and it was so very very bad. She was completely out of tune. As Randy would say, “Yo, it was a bit pitchy, dawg.”

    @Anonymous: Ballads have a flowing melody that makes it extremely difficult to “fix”. Plus, she recorded that song with Marc years ago, before they were even married. I believe it wa on her very first album. She has talent and can sing, and she is one of my favorite singers, so can we please agree to respect each other’s opinions? :)

    @Anonymous: It is physically impossible to “fix” a ballad, due to their flowing and complex melodies. The harmonies may be able to be played with, but in that particular song, she has the melody down to a science. I myself have heard her live, and she really does put a lot of time and effort into her shows. She was amazing! She is one of my favorite singers, so can we agree to respect each other’s opinions, even though we may not share them? :)
