Aaron Carter Endorses Donald Trump, Doesn’t Care If He Loses Fans
On Saturday, Carter retweeted a message from Trump that read, “I am self-funding my campaign and am therefore not controlled by the lobbyists and special interests like lightweight Rubio or Ted Cruz!” Carter himself then tweeted, “Does America want to have a president who FOLLOWS or someone who leads? I vote For @realdonaldtrump.”
Immediately, Carter began getting bashed by his followers, and he fired back. “Good thing I live in America and I have the right to my own opinion such as a lot of my NON supporters have for me at times,” the former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant wrote. When one person warned him that he’d lose fans, Carter responded, “That’s ok. Losing fans gaining fans all good so what happens when Donald becomes president relax people.”
The singer went on to clarify that he doesn’t agree with Trump’s stance on deporting Muslims and banning them from entering the U.S. He even remarked, “Apparently I have no one who concurs with me about Donald trump.” He added, “Some of the things Donald says I don’t agree with but some I do. It is what it is.”
Carter is now one of the few celebrities not associated with Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice” to publicly express support for the business mogul and GOP frontrunner, along with Kid Rock. And while many stars have joined Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders’ respective campaigns, not a lot have aligned themselves with the Republican party during this election season. An exception would be Donnie Wahlberg, who last week switched his allegiance from Carly Fiorina to Marco Rubio.
UPDATE: Carter has since tweeted, “Just landed in San Diego connecting through Phoenix reading all these death threats and hate mail kinda crazy, these are POLITICAL VIEWS. Back off of me people seriously none of you follow me I use NO HASH TAGS EVER expect my own and your trolling me I FIGHT BACK. But I honestly need to pay attention to this beach in San Diego today oh and I’m performing for an LGBT event tonight… So NO I don’t support ALL of what @realDonaldTrump is doing but 70% of me agrees so F*CK OFF.”
