Demi Lovato punctuated an emotional speech about self-acceptance at a concert in Brazil over the weekend by holding up a Barbie doll that had been thrown on stage.

The “X Factor” judge was performing at the Z Festival in Rio de Janeiro when she held up the Barbie and said, “I spent my whole life trying to be this, and to look like this, and guess what — I’m not this.”

PERFECT ROLE MODEL. She’s real. This is the type of girl I want my kids to look up to.

  • Arcachnar

That’s true. A lot of teenage girls and women feels definitely insecure as they see the ‘perfect’ body measures (so to speak) of this doll. They don’t need this. Why? That’s because everyone is perfect in their own right. We all were made in the image of God. Don’t forget.

    Demi is perfect.

  • Chloe

Her speech would have more value if she hadn’t colored her hair blonde. Maybe that is the message the fan was sending…

    xoxox. True that!

    Demi is great!

  • Lola

Demi is saying one thing, but still tries to emulate Barbie with the blond hair, the attempts to lose weight and so on and so forth. Stay true to what you are saying lady, walk your talk, only then you will be perceived as authentic.

@8eb013d20d1e68fa9cef3ba5cc81a555:disqus and @b92154c698a029c8be6755c8c765b955:disqus Demi dyes her hair when she wants a change. It’s not about trying to be like Barbie (Barbie’s hair comes in multiple colors) it’s about making a change and doing something different. If you two even knew what she was all about, you’d see that your comments make no sense. Demi Lovato is a huge inspiration to many girls and young women. Just because you two see a Barbie copy-cat doesn’t mean that’s what the rest of the world see.

  • Tina

She has gained weight not lose it idiot. She’s BEEN had blonde hair. Long with many others in the world. Youre the pathetic one.

  • http://twitter.com/ironduck Addie/Annie D

this just looks staged. Who takes a barbie doll to a concert? I mean, surely it would’ve made more sense if they threw a ‘Demi’ doll.

  • Steel

She not only dyes her hair constantly, but she also wears lots of
makeup. She’s still insecure about her appearance. She’s simply
replaced anorexia/bulimia with more socially acceptable obsessions, but
    it’s all vanity.
