90210 Canceled, Series Finale to Air in May

“90210,” the CW reboot of the original hit “Beverly Hills 90210,” has been canceled.

The series, starring Shenae Grimes and AnnaLynne McCord, will conclude in May after five seasons.

“The CW has had five great seasons with America’s favorite zip code, 90210,” president Mark Pedowitz said in a statement. 

He continued, “I’d like to thank the talented cast, producers, and crew for all their hard work and dedication to the series. We are very proud of the West Beverly High alumni.”

It’s expected that the show’s farewell will include a retrospective, which would air with the finale on May 13, reports TVLine.

In the show’s initial seasons, original “90210″ cast members Jennie Garth, Shannen Doherty and Tori Spelling all made appearances, before producers decided to focus exclusively on the new cast.

    I’m bummed to see it come to an
    end after five seasons, but that’s a great run for a series. I work at DISH
    with a lot of fans who feel the same way, too. Now I’m really glad I’ve been
    saving this fifth season to my DISH Hopper. I won’t have to part with the season
    anytime soon either, because my Hopper’s hard drive stores up to 2,000 hours of
    entertainment. I still have room for the rest of my lineup and anything that
    piques my interest, too.

    I love Beverly Hills 90210 and I never could get into this one. I am shocked at the cancellation though, I thought that they would give them a short final season like they did with One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl.

    Jamie…..certainly SOME people watch that. So every bloody reality tv is watched by CERTAIN people.
    But is this a real reason the show is on?!
    There are money in it, and those who invested are not gonna waste those billions after firsts signs of decline.
    If this show were able to go until now, I say it was shitty since second series.
    Producers, aware that show is loosing viewing percentage, still trying to pull people’s attention, advertisements running,,new plot is written, new character employed. But numbers aren’t lying !
    So the fact it was still running would not make any relevant point.
    Only state a fact that show has to be canceled…..as no one is watching!
    Otherwise it would continue!

    I am sorry to see it go, I never missed an ep. It had it’s downsides like any other show, but CW is trying to be mainstream so bad recently. The shows used top be awesome, now it is so lack luster. To bad it will be missed.
