5 Seconds of Summer Celebrates Fourth Anniversary With “#4YearsOf5SOS”
5 Seconds Of Summer is celebrating its fourth anniversary. The band officially formed four years ago on December 3, 2011, and now the guys and fans alike are celebrating the milestone.
The group, which consists of Michael Clifford, Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood and Ashton Irwin, gained popularity in 2011 after they began posting song cover videos on YouTube. Since then, the pop-rock band has released two albums, both of which went to number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart. And earlier this year, the guys embarked on the “Rock Out with Your Socks Out Tour,” their first headlining tour.
Early Thursday, fans started the hashtag “#4YearsOf5SOS,” which quickly began trending on Twitter. The band took note, and retweeted a number of the celebratory messages. “#4YearsOf5SOS thank you for making me appreciate music more,” said one fan, while another noted, “@5SOS times flies when you’re having fun #4YearsOf5SOS.”
Soon after, the guys themselves began sharing their own messages about the anniversary. Irwin posted an Instagram picture of the band with the caption, “Brothers. #4yearsof5sos,” before adding on Twitter, “#4YearsOf5SOS best 4 years of my entire life.” Meanwhile, Hood tweeted, “4 years of 5 seconds of summer. Here’s to many more!”
Clifford used the hashtag, writing, “happy 5sos day :’) #4YearsOf5SOS.” And Hemmings sent a more personal but hilarious message, tweeting, “#4YearsOf5SOS Four years ago Calum got down on one knee and and asked Ashton to join the band, or to marry him Either way thank you.” TELL US: Are you a 5SOS fan?
