Adele Beats Taylor Swift For Best-Selling Album of 2012 (PHOTOS)

Adele reigned supreme in 2012 — for the second year in a row.

After having 2011′s best-selling album in the United States, the singer’s 21 was the top-seller in 2012 as well.

Adele’s chart-topping reign marks the first time one album has sold the most copies two years in a row since Nielsen Soundscan began keeping track in 1991.

With 4.41 million copies sold last year, 21 beat out Taylor Swift’s Red, which sold 3.31 million.

    considering Adele has many hits just from 21 alone: Rolling in the deep, someone like you, rumor has it, turning tables,set fire to the rain I highly doubt she will be a one hit wonder. Don’t forget her hit Skyfall. I don’t mind Taylor swift to each their own but Adele can sing circles around Taylor Swift. Even Taylor Swift record label made comments about how shes not the best singer, but she writes emotional lyrics that people connect to, just like Adele.

    One hit wonder!? Rolling in The Deep, Rumour Has It, Someone Like You, Set Fire to the Rain… that makes 4, and only on ’21′. Your argument is invalid.
    And by the way just because Swift can sold 4 millions in 5 months doesn’t mean her record is better than Adele. She just has a bigger fan base because she’s on the cover of magazines every time she has a new boyfriend (which means every 2 months) or something happens in her life. At least Adele knows how to keep her life private.

    And to those saying that Swift’s album is better because it was only released ~3 months ago and already sold 3 millions, Adele sold 4 millions IN 2012. The album was released 2 years ago, think of the other 4 millions (and even more!) she did in 2011. Will Swift’s record do the same? I doubt it.

    Are you stupid? 4 million copies of 21 weren’t sold SINCE it came out. Can’t you read? An album that has been out for OVER A YEAR sold MORE copies in that year than an album by a teenage superstar or whatever you want to call Taylor Swift. 21 is still going on strong!

    So what if her album 21 was out longer. Red came out 3 months more than 3 million records sold and 21 1 year only 4 mil sold. Taylor can sell records.

    21 came out in 2011. In 2011 alone it sold over 5.8 million copies. Then in 2012, she sold 4 million more. Both totals have beat Taylor Swift’s album. The reason is because Adele is liked by a wider audience. Both Taylor Swift and Adele are extremely talented and hardworking though. Saying Adele can’t sing is just nonsense. And you’re right, Taylor Swift is really good at selling records. All I heard the month before Red came out was commercials for it it seemed. I never heard one commercial for 21though, and yet it’s the best selling record in years.

    You’re the one making a fool out of yourself. Adele is extremely talented, just like Taylor Swift is. Trying to deny that is just being ignorant. Just because you don’t like adele does not make her a one hit wonder. The fact that she had three songs on the charts at one time is proof of that.

    I liked Adele’s songs alot when they were new but now they were on the radio all the time, like nonstop (in Germany). But I never get tired of Taylor’s songs. Thats why i think she will sell alot in the future:)
